The Country That Thinks It's Too Good for Starbucks

"A chain store like Starbucks imposes itself onto the community."

There are 24 Starbucks stores in Australia and no one wants to go to them. Actually, there were 80 of them originally, but they've mostly shut down. What?
VICE reports that since the chain's attempted Down Under takeover, Australians have been hating on Starbucks. Apparently, Australians loved their coffee culture as it was and the whole "giant coffee chain descends on the nation to sell pricey PSLs and whatnot" was completely the opposite of what they enjoy.
"An independent cafe is more likely to match the needs and culture of the community than a chain store like Starbucks which imposes itself onto the community," explains Tuli Keidar, the owner of an independent coffee shop in Sydney. Seeing as there are 10,000 non-Starbucks coffee shops in Australia, it seems like he's right.
That's great and all, but in America, we like our Starbucks on every goddamn corner. Dammit.
