Erna and Hrefna are 9-year-old identical twins living in Iceland. Photographer Ariko Inaoka met them when they first auditioned for a fashion show in 2006. They weren't selected for the shoot, but Inaoka realized she absolutely wanted to work with them.
Speaking with Slate, Inaoka said the twins' connection bordered on telepathic, making them eerily stunning photo subjects: "When they talk, one begins a sentence, the other picks up midway, and the first one finishes it — all very naturally."
