Setting Specific Goals Can Vastly Help You With Finding And Making Friends

It can be a somewhat liberating experience to go about something without having any goals but the truth is that it might not be in your best interest to pursue your goals in that manner. Having some goals can help you focus which in turn can help you to progress faster and with more ease than if you had no goals at all.
We rarely think about our specific goals when we are pursuing something but the fact is that even if we have just started on a project or journey we will in most cases have some kind of goal in mind. These goals can be somewhat diffuse such as "I want to make more friends" or "I want to be able to speak with people more easily" but they can nonetheless help you to focus on what you are trying to achieve.
With that said having more specific goals can be of greater help than diffuse ones, this due to the fact that it is easier to see if you are making progress towards those goals and that they also let you know what you might need to focus on. Having one big goal, "I want to become friends with 10 people" for example, as well as several minor goals that you can work towards individually is in most cases the best approach.
But how do you decide what goals you should have? For me, and many others, it helps to sit down and actually think about and write down what we want to accomplish and, more importantly, why we want to accomplish these things.
This way you can get a better understanding of what you should put your energy on and how you can go about completing the goals that you have set up for yourself. It can also help with removing goals that can be detrimental to you.
All goals aren't created equal and some goals can be more of a hindrance than a help in some situations. If you, for example, want to become popular with a specific click at work or in school but you later find out that you don't like the people in that click or that they don't like you then it might feel like everything you've done up to that point has been a waste.
It is therefore important to assess your goals and see if they are realistic or not and update them if needed. Being honest with yourself and knowing your abilities can go a long way in helping you succeed with your goals. With that said don't be afraid to challenge yourself either but do try to keep your goals as realistic as you can.
And as with everything else, if you don't work at it you won't improve and as such it is very important that you do keep on working towards your goals as often as you are able without stressing yourself. Work at your goals at your own pace but never stop working at them and eventually you will see the rewards from your effort.
