We have all been in the situations where we feel like we want to expand our social circle, find more friends or just find some interesting people to hang out with from time to time. The problem is that even though we have that goal it can be a bit too broad to actually help you in your endeavor.
Knowing exactly what you are looking for, either as a whole or from each person individually, can be helpful in this situation because you can narrow down exactly what you are looking for at any given moment and from any given person. By narrowing the goal you also help increase the ability to focus on it.
In a broad sense this means that if you want to have some friends to party with then this is where your focus should lie, at least for the moment. To contrast, if you want to find friends you can hang out with at a regular basis whilst not partying these kinds of people should be your focus. Knowing your focus you can also being to search for venues where you can find these types of friends since they rarely inhabit the same spaces.
In a more narrow sense you can probably figure out what you want, or need, from a particular person or friend by assessing the relationship that you have with that person. If you feel like you want to spend more time with said person or find different areas to hang out with them in then you should make your wishes known to them.
This can help you in several ways. First and foremost you can see how much focus you would like to spend on one particular person. You can also see if you want to engage more, or perhaps less, with him or her and you can allocate your resources accordingly. Do keep in mind that part of this is of course your friends choice.
The most important part is communicating and being open about where you want your relationship to go. This limits the chances of misunderstandings and also open up for deeper, and more understanding, relationships and friendships that may just last you for life.
