Would You Tweet a Photo With Your Tampon?

HelloFlo, an organization dedicated to improving women's menstrual cycles by sending them pads and tampons every month (think of it as a Birchbox for your period), has a new campaign encouraging women to use tampons proudly. Founder Naama Bloom hopes that by using the hashtag #TamponLiberation, women everywhere will stop shoving tampons up their sleeves when they have to use the bathroom around other people and will instead own up to their tampon usage.
"While we don't think that we'll actually get women to start walking to the bathroom with their head held high and their tampon held higher, we do want to encourage women to think about why tampons, pads, menstrual cups, sponges, etc. are shrouded in such secrecy," Bloom asks. "What if we just treated them as the tools they are?" After all, she writes, half the world gets periods.
Additionally, if you put a picture of yourself wielding tampons proudly on the Internet, HelloFlo will send you free stickers of cute, happy uteri (seen above) for your troubles. A thought: More women would participate if free tampons were at stake.
