How Potent Is Your Pineal Gland?

Expert Author Veronique D Desaulniers
The Pineal Gland is a little cone-shaped gland that is tucked away deep in the brain. Although it is a tiny gland, it plays a very important role in Melatonin production and the aging process. Unfortunately, because of toxic chemicals like Fluoride and over-supplementation with calcium, the Pineal Gland tends to calcify and stop producing Melatonin. Studies have proven that Melatonin plays a vital role in many aspects of your health.
In order to maximize your Melatonin production, there has to be a few key factors in place:
1.) Your bedroom has to be completely dark with no flashing lights, night lights, or visible street lights.
2.) Conversely, try to get at least 60 minutes of real sunlight on your eyes every day. This helps to stimulate the Pineal Gland. Artificial and fluorescent lights have a detrimental effect on the Pineal Gland.
3.) Remove any electronic gadgets near your head. NO cell phones, electric alarm clocks, laptops, iPads, Kindles, etc... The EMF's interfere with your Melatonin production.
4.) Get to bed at approximately the same time every night. This helps keep your biological clock and circadian rhythms balanced.
5.) Avoid Fluoride. Use Fluoride free toothpaste and refuse fluoride treatments.
6.) Your body should be making Melatonin from Serotonin, which is made from the amino acid Tryptophan. If you are not methylating or processing these properly, you will not produce enough Melatonin. (There are specific tests to decide your methylation issues. More on Methylation in a future article)
I have written about the power of Melatonin as a Breast Cancer inhibitor and how it actually puts Breast Cancer cells to sleep. However, studies have taught us that there are many more benefits to improved Melatonin production.
Melatonin protects your brain
Melatonin is one of the few anti-oxidants that can cross the blood brain barrier. Melatonin levels are very low in patients with Alzheimer's disease. A high level of a toxic protein called beta-amyloid has been associated with low Melatonin levels and Alzheimer's.
Melatonin is beneficial for cancer patients
Laboratory studies suggest that Melatonin may inhibit aromatase enzymes and help improve the response from hormone-responsive Breast Cancers and even help prevent them. Prostate Cancer is another common cancer that show promise with the use of Melatonin since it reduces prostate cancer cell growth. Ten studies conducted over an 11 year period demonstrated that Melatonin reduced the relative risk of death by cancer by 34%.
Melatonin can help prevent Migraines
If you know anyone that has suffered with Migraines, this may be great news for them. Only 3 mg at bedtime helped reduce headaches by up to 50% and helped to decrease the intensity and duration of the headaches.
Melatonin can help promote healthy sleep
Fifteen studies in healthy individuals concluded that melatonin helped to reduce the amount of time to falls asleep, boosted the quality of sleep and increased total sleep duration.
Essential #3 for healing and preventing Breast Cancer Naturally is: Balance Your Energy. Keeping your Pineal Gland potent by getting plenty of sunlight, sleeping in a dark, EMF-free room and reducing your toxic exposure as much as possible, will help maximize our Melatonin production and thus improve your health.
