Typically when someone suggests or references an open forum discussion site, most of us tend to immediately think of heavy discussion topics or dry debates. Forum discussions seem to be generally uninviting conversations, the integrity of which quickly disintegrates into uninteresting babble among a select, and talkative, few. They seem to discuss intense current events or dense news headlines, often in the realms of politics or economics. What few people realize, however, is that most of us may be missing out on exploring the lighter side of open forum discussion sites.
"What lighter side?" you may ask. That is a very good question. For a proper "lightening" of topic, there is a fail-safe reference: you cannot go wrong with bringing comedy into the discussion equation. Humor can turn a topic around and, expose some new perspectives or even broach more difficult topics that may not otherwise be addressed in all seriousness. Let us not forget, however, that there are the delightful discussion topics that are introduced for the sheer pleasure of being bantered about - there is no hidden reasoning or agenda behind those. We shall take a closer look at examples of the inclusion of comedy and the banter that currently exists on social discussion forums.
Full of content, but literally light on self-important tirades, the discussions involving comics interviewing comics may be some of the funniest discussions you will ever witness in writing on online discussion forums. You really cannot go wrong with this setup if you are looking for lighter material and a good chuckle or LOL. Imagine (if you can) a discussion where the topic is one such as "bad-mouthing the US founding fathers." Or, consider Shakespearian comedy as a topic. There does not seem to be anything un-appealing about that potential discussion (except for maybe if it is presented in iambic pentameter or Shakespearean jargon - that could take some special skill to interpret). On the other hand, if you have never experienced Shakespearean insults, surely there would be one or two of those witty phrases in there that would make such a discussion a must-see! Another topic, "Religion as comedy: comedy as religion" seems intriguing -- like a discussion that could very well stray into some dangerous waters but, at the same time, be fairly entertaining. Then, there are topics such as "rock and roll and revolution." People were queuing up for tickets to that discussion wonder!
Since so many minds are privy to online discussion forums, it is amazing the amount of creativity that can be introduced into a one-on-one chat, let alone a virtual room full of passionate people! Fortunately, social media sites allow us to share memorable social discussion about topics ranging from serious and exciting to hilarious and intriguing. Do some hunting online and allow yourself to be exposed to the lighter side of open forum discussion sites.
