Brittany Maynard, a 29-year-old woman whose message of "death with dignity" moved people nationwide, ended her life on Saturday, People reports.
Maynard made headlines after she went public with her decision to pursue assisted suicide under Oregon's Death With Dignity Act. She moved to the state from California with her husband and parents after she was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer and was told she had six months to live. After multiple surgeries to remove the tumor, she opted not to undergo chemotherapy or radiation."Goodbye to all my dear friends and family that I love," she reportedly posted on Facebook. "Today is the day I have chosen to pass away with dignity in the face of my terminal illness, this terrible brain cancer that has taken so much from me … but would have taken so much more."
