Changsha Underwater World in central China was the scene for a dramatic birth of a baby white whale -- all caught on video (see below).
The eight-year-old whale, named Zhou Ya, gave birth to her calf after a 15-month pregnancy, according to the U.K. Telegraph. The video captures the little one slowly emerging from its mother, after five hours of labor, and finally wriggling free to swim on its own.
The newborn calf is thought to be the first such breeding of a white whale, or beluga, in captivity in China.
The mother will get the next two years off from its normal duties at the underwater attraction while she tends to her new child's upbringing.
